Perceived organizational support has proven to be a key factor in enhancing employee engagement and individual performance within the hospitality industry. These findings were revealed by Komang Sri Mediani Dewi and Agoes Ganesha Rahyuda from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha through their study at Puri Santrian A Beach Resort and Spa, Sanur, Bali. The research was conducted to address the challenge of a declining performance trend among Food and Beverage (F&B) department employees at the resort throughout the 2023–2025 period.
In a competitive industrial environment, service quality is highly dependent on staff behavior and performance. The observed phenomenon of declining performance in the field highlighted the need for a deeper understanding of supporting factors, such as company appreciation, concern for well-being, and the flexibility provided to staff.
The study involved 54 respondents from the F&B department, selected using a census method. Data were collected via online surveys and analyzed using path analysis techniques to measure the relationship between perceived organizational support, employee engagement, and employee performance.
The analysis results indicate that employee engagement plays a crucial role as a mediating variable. Below are the key findings of the research:
- Organizational support has a positive and significant effect on employee performance.
- Organizational support significantly increases employee engagement.
- Employee engagement has a direct positive impact on performance improvement.
- Employee engagement effectively mediates the relationship between organizational support and employee performance, contributing 64.40 percent.
These findings confirm that when employees feel valued and supported, they feel prouder and more enthusiastic about their work, which ultimately encourages them to deliver their best performance. Managerially, the study suggests that the hotel should pay closer attention to work target structures and align them with employee capabilities to maintain engagement and productivity.
