Ternate–
Khairun University Students Show
High Environmental Awareness, Research Transformed into Learning Posters. Research
conducted by Wahyuni Sahrudin, Yumima Sinyo, and Hasna
Ahmad from Khairun University, Indonesia, was published in the Journal of
Educational Analytics (JEDA) Vol. 5 No. 1 (2026).
The research conducted by Wahyuni Sahrudin, Yumima Sinyo, and Hasna Ahmad showed a high level of awareness regarding campus environmental management. Interestingly, the research results went beyond measuring the awareness index and were also developed into a learning poster for the Environmental Education (PLH) course.
Environmental
Awareness as a Foundation for Sustainable Campuses
Environmental
issues such as waste mismanagement, excessive use of single-use plastics, and
low participation in recycling programs remain common in many universities. As
outlined in the introduction section (pp. 74–75), students play a strategic
role in maintaining campus environmental sustainability.
As
the largest population group within universities, students significantly
influence the success of environmental policies. Measuring their awareness
provides a clear indicator of how well sustainability values are internalized.
Research
Findings Developed into Learning Posters
A
distinctive feature of this study is the transformation of research findings
into instructional posters for Environmental Education (PLH) courses.
The
posters were designed to:
- Present
research data concisely
- Visualize
survey findings
- Reinforce
environmental values
- Serve
as discussion and campaign media on campus
Material
Expert Validation
Three
subject-matter experts evaluated the posters. As shown in Table 4 (p. 81), the
overall average validation score reached 90.25%, categorized as “Highly
Feasible” .
The
evaluation covered:
- Alignment
with Environmental Education learning objectives
- Accuracy
of environmental management concepts
- Suitability
for student level
- Completeness
and depth of content
- Data
accuracy (100%)
- Relevance
to research findings
These results indicate that the posters are scientifically valid and suitable for instructional use without major revision.
Media
Expert Validation
Three
media experts assessed the visual and design quality. Based on Table 5 (pp.
82–83), the average validation score reached 90.50%, also categorized as
“Highly Feasible”.
The
assessment included:
- Poster
layout and design
- Color
and typography suitability
- Text
readability (100%)
- Clarity
of information presentation
- Visual
attractiveness
These
findings confirm that the posters meet educational media standards and are
effective for classroom implementation.
Implications
for Green Campus Policy
The
study concludes that Biology Education students at Khairun University
demonstrate a high level of environmental awareness, reflected in positive
attitudes and participation in environmental programs (pp. 83–84).
However,
awareness must continuously be translated into consistent environmentally
responsible actions.
The
researchers recommend:
- Strengthening
green campus policies
- Providing
adequate environmental management facilities
- Encouraging
greater student participation
- Conducting
further research focusing on behavioral implementation (p. 85)
Integrating
research findings into instructional media enhances learning relevance while
reinforcing sustainability values among students.
