International Collaboration Between Ngudi Waluyo University and Thailand Enhances Cross-Border AI Literacy

A community service program organized by a team from Universitas Ngudi Waluyo Indonesia in collaboration with Thai Global Business Administration College Thailand in August 2026 successfully enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) literacy for students and the general public. Led by Wiwik, Intan, Lisa, Sisca Septiani, Ridwan, alongside Thai experts Dr. Prattana Srisuk, Dr. Marlon Rael Astillero, and Dr. Nico Irawan, this online Zoom activity is crucial for addressing the digital literacy gap and supporting Indonesia's Society 5.0 agenda and Thailand's Education 4.0 agenda.

The digital literacy gap in Indonesia and Thailand underscores the need for deep education on the wise and responsible use of AI. Indonesia currently focuses more on anti-misinformation literacy, while Thailand implements its Education 4.0 agenda integrating information technology into its education system. Without proper ethical and data security understanding, using technologies like chatbots risks triggering algorithmic bias and academic plagiarism.

The activity was carried out online via Zoom, involving over 30 participants from the graduate program of Universitas Ngudi Waluyo and Thai Global Business Administration College. The implementation methods included team coordination, material presentations by international speakers covering the history of AI development from the 1950s to 2025 projections, as well as cross-cultural interactive discussions and Q&A sessions.

Event evaluations showed tangible achievements as follows:

• Enhanced conceptual understanding among participants regarding the differences between conventional and generative AI as well as how Large Language Models (LLMs) work.
• Increased ethical awareness regarding data privacy risks, algorithmic bias, and academic plagiarism.
• The growth of independent motivation among participants to integrate AI into their research projects and professional practices.

This multidisciplinary approach involving education, technology, and nursing fields opens great opportunities for cross-national research collaboration in the ASEAN region. Educational institutions are encouraged to design sustainable AI digital literacy programs integrated into the curriculum to face the era of technological transformation.
