Recent research by Ferdi Muhammad and Anna Suzana, academics from Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati Cirebon, reveals that supervisor support is highly crucial in boosting employee performance in the logistics sector. The study, published in June 2026, found that supervisor support not only has a direct impact on work achievement, but also works optimally by building workers' self-confidence or self-efficacy. These findings provide important insights for companies to maintain operational effectiveness amidst increasingly tight industry targets.

The distribution and logistics industry requires its workers to meet high operational targets and face strict time pressures. Often, a good level of employee physical attendance is not always directly proportional to target achievement and optimal work quality. This real condition triggers the need to understand factors beyond basic compliance, such as organizational support and workers' psychological conditions, which can maintain daily performance stability.

To solve this problem, the researchers conducted a quantitative survey of 130 employees at PT Indomarco Adi Prima Distribution Center, Tangerang. Data collection was carried out using a structured questionnaire, which was then analyzed statistically to measure the causal relationship between the level of supervisor support, worker self-confidence, and the achievement of work results.

The evaluation results and statistical analysis provided a number of significant key findings:

  • Supervisor support was proven to have a positive and highly significant impact on improving employee work achievement.
  • Supervisor support directly boosts employees' level of self-confidence (self-efficacy) in completing tasks and facing work pressure.
  • Employees with high levels of self-confidence are proven capable of producing much better and consistent work performance.
  • Self-confidence functions as a full mediator in the work environment; meaning, the influence of supervisor support on performance does not occur directly, but must first go through the process of increasing employees' self-confidence.

These findings carry strategic implications for the business world, particularly in optimizing human resource management. Companies are now encouraged to not only focus on physical targets, but also implement supportive leadership practices, such as providing clear direction, open communication, and constructive feedback to strengthen employees' psychological aspects. In addition, companies are advised to implement leadership development programs for supervisors so they become proficient in building worker motivation.

"Supervisor support will be more effective in improving work achievement if the support is able to first strengthen employees' self-confidence in their abilities," explained Ferdi Muhammad and Anna Suzana from Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati Cirebon, summarizing their research conclusion.
