A community service
team from the Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) conducted a technical
guidance program to strengthen the management of the Three Pillars of Higher
Education (Tridharma) at Sekolah Tinggi Teologi (STT) Arastamar
Ngabang, West Kalimantan, in May 2026. The program focused on reinforcing the
Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) and implementing Outcome-Based
Education (OBE) to improve academic standards and institutional accreditation
readiness.
Background and Issues
STT Arastamar Ngabang
faced challenges in institutional quality management, including limited human
resource understanding of quality systems, uneven implementation of SPMI, and
the need to align curricula with graduate learning outcomes. Strengthening this
governance is crucial for the institution to move beyond mere administrative
compliance and demonstrate ongoing execution, evaluation, and continuous
quality improvement in accordance with national higher education standards.
Methodology
The program utilized a
participatory-educational approach involving leaders, lecturers, and
administrative staff at STT Arastamar Ngabang. The methods included:

Needs analysis: Identifying quality management challenges through
initial communication with the partner institution.
- ·
Technical guidance: Conducting workshops, focused discussions, and case
studies regarding SPMI implementation and OBE-based curricula.
- ·
Document review: Examining the readiness of academic documents,
curricula, and lesson plans to support accreditation.
- ·
Mentoring: Developing follow-up plans to ensure the program remains
sustainable after the service period.
Key Findings
The activities
resulted in a significant increase in participants' understanding regarding
institutional management. Key successes included:

Participants now
understand the function of SPMI not as an administrative burden, but as a
system for continuous quality improvement through the PPEPP cycle
(Establishment, Execution, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement).

There was improved
understanding in aligning OBE-based curricula, shifting the focus from a simple
list of courses to measurable graduate competency outcomes.
·
A collective
awareness emerged that quality culture is a shared responsibility, requiring
commitment from leadership and the roles of administrative staff.
Implications and
Impact
This program
successfully generated strategic recommendations for STT Arastamar Ngabang,
such as forming a stronger quality assurance team, mapping OBE curricula, and
developing roadmaps for research and community service. According to the UKI
service team, strengthening quality culture in higher education requires a
combination of conceptual understanding, technical training, and sustainable
mentoring. The results of this guidance are expected to provide a strong
foundation for the partner to face accreditation challenges and increase the
relevance of their graduates to community needs.
