Students and lecturers
from Diponegoro University have enhanced their capacity and competence through
a structured internship program at PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk Main Branch
Office (KCU) in Semarang, running from September to December 2025. Author
Muchamad Syafruddin from Diponegoro University explains that this program was
designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the dynamic realities of
the Islamic banking sector.
Background and
Methodology
In the era of digital
transformation, massive internet penetration demands that the banking sector
adapt rapidly. PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk KCU Semarang requires human
resources capable of operating modern banking technology systems while
upholding Sharia principles.
This study employed an
ethnographic approach, where interns acted not only as assistants but also
immersed themselves in the banking work culture. This method involved in-depth
observation, structured discussions, and routine evaluations to comprehensively
understand the company's business characteristics and operational procedures.
Key Findings
The internship
provided cross-functional experience for students across various divisions,
including:
- ·
Marketing Strategy: Optimizing customer acquisition through digital prospect
data management and Sharia product presentations.
- ·
Operations: Active involvement in front-office duties (customer
service and transaction processing) as well as the administration of legal
banking documents.
- ·
Back Office: Assisting in audit compliance procedures and risk
management.
During the program,
interns were trained to use internal banking software such as MDirect and MARS
to manage customer data and branch financial records. Although they faced
technical challenges such as unstable network connections, interns adapted by
optimizing access methods and adjusting operational workflows.
Implications for
Education and Industry
The program proved
effective in enhancing both technical skills (hard skills) and non-technical
skills (soft skills) such as discipline, professional communication, and
teamwork for students. For educational institutions, this partnership enriches
lecturers' understanding of theoretical issues relevant to real-world industry
practices. For PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk, this collaboration supports the
development of work-ready human resources and aids operational efficiency
through structured administrative support.
