A 2026 study by Fauzi Nur Maqi and Nanda Dwi Cahya from
Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Lampung shows that implementing a repeater-based
wireless network significantly improves internet coverage and stability at UPTD
SD Negeri 1 Taman Fajar, East Lampung. The findings are important as reliable
internet access is essential for supporting technology-based learning and
school administration.
Schools with large physical areas often struggle with uneven
Wi-Fi coverage. At SD Negeri 1 Taman Fajar, limited access point reach caused
weak signals and connectivity gaps in several areas. This situation disrupted
digital learning activities, data communication, and efficient information
management within the school.
To address the issue, the researchers applied an
implementative approach carried out from January to February 2026. The process
began with observing existing network conditions, followed by network topology
design, installation of repeater devices, and structured IP address
configuration to ensure all devices were connected within a unified system.
The network design used a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
architecture, with a router as the central controller, a repeater to extend
signal coverage, and an access point to distribute connections to user devices.
As explained on page 4, the system used a structured private IP scheme
(192.168.1.x), enabling stable communication between devices without address
conflicts.
The implementation delivered clear improvements in network
performance:
- Wi-Fi signal coverage expanded to previously unreachable areas
- Internet connections became more stable and evenly distributed
- Network disruptions caused by IP conflicts were minimized
- Digital learning and administrative processes ran more smoothly
Configuration steps shown on pages 6–7 illustrate the
process of setting repeater mode, selecting the main network, and creating a
new SSID such as “SDN 1 TAMAN FAJAR-2.4G-ext,” allowing users to access a wider
network range. The system also synchronizes the repeater with the main router
to maintain connection stability.
Fauzi Nur Maqi from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Lampung
explains that using repeaters offers an effective and cost-efficient solution
for expanding network coverage without additional cabling. He emphasizes that
proper IP configuration is crucial to ensure seamless communication between
devices.
The impact goes beyond technical improvements. Teachers and
staff can now access information systems, manage data, and conduct
technology-based learning more efficiently. The project also enhanced students’
practical skills in network infrastructure through direct involvement in
implementation.
In the long term, this repeater-based network model can be
replicated in other schools facing similar connectivity challenges. With
relatively low cost and easy implementation, it offers a practical solution for
strengthening digital infrastructure in education.
