Pebi Eryanti and Nopi Oktavianti from Universitas Pamulang conducted a study between October 2025 and August 2026 to examine the effect of recognition needs and emotional intelligence on employee performance at the Teluknaga Sub-District Office, Tangerang Regency. This study holds crucial importance for public administration because the quality of service at the sub-district level directly impacts public satisfaction and trust in government institutions.

Population administration services in Teluknaga Sub-District often face challenges regarding the gap between the agency's main performance targets and daily document completion rates in the field. Although aggregate indicator achievements appear high, specific service completions such as ID cards and Family Cards have not consistently reached the one hundred percent target. This phenomenon highlights the need for a thorough evaluation of human resource management aspects, specifically reward systems and employee psychological capacity.

This study employed a quantitative approach involving the entire population of Teluknaga Sub-District employees, totaling 46 individuals, using saturated sampling. Data collection was carried out through structured questionnaires using a Likert scale, which were then analyzed using linear regression statistical methods and hypothesis testing to measure partial and simultaneous effects.

Based on the data analysis, the main findings of this study include:

  • Recognition needs proved to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, contributing 71.3% to performance variation partially.
  • Emotional intelligence provided a very strong positive effect on performance with an independent contribution of 88.9%.
  • Simultaneously, recognition needs and emotional intelligence explained 90% of the variation in employee performance within the sub-district office environment.

Pebi Eryanti and Nopi Oktavianti from Universitas Pamulang emphasized that government institutions need to integrate human resource management strategies through improved transparency of incentive systems, timely praise, and emotional regulation training for employees. This comprehensive approach is deemed highly effective in boosting bureaucratic productivity and public service quality at the regional level.
