CIMAHI — Inadequate physical work environment conditions and disproportionate workloads significantly affect the performance of Government Employees with Employment Agreements (PPPK) teachers at XYZ School. This key finding was revealed in a recent scientific study conducted by Septi Indah Cahyani and Khaerul Rizal Abdurahman from Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani published in 2026. The study serves as a crucial reference for educational managers in improving human resource management to support the achievement of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
In terms of background, the successful implementation of national education depends heavily on the role of teachers as facilitators and character builders in the classroom. However, initial observations at XYZ School revealed that the performance evaluation results of PPPK teachers remained below the school's expected standards. This issue was worsened by ongoing school building renovations that forced teaching activities outdoors or in temporary rooms with restricted facilities, poor lighting, high noise levels, and distracting odors. Furthermore, an uneven distribution of extra administrative duties created an imbalance in teachers' physical, mental, and time management capacities.
The methodology of this research used a quantitative descriptive and associative approach to evaluate partial and simultaneous relationships between variables. The researchers collected data from 35 PPPK teachers at XYZ School through observations, interviews, documentation, and structured questionnaires using a Semantic Differential scale. All gathered data passed validity and reliability tests before being analyzed through multiple linear regression using SPSS version 27 software.
The main findings of the study demonstrate that both the physical work environment and workload currently fall under non-conforming criteria, directly resulting in low teacher performance. Noise levels emerged as the most disturbing physical environmental factor, while time management constraints proved to be the most severe workload issue faced by teachers. Nevertheless, statistical testing proves that enhancing the physical work environment and establishing balanced task distributions exert a strong, positive, and significant impact on improving teacher performance both partially and simultaneously.
The implications and impacts of this research are vital for school management and public education policy makers. School administrators are strongly urged to upgrade physical teaching facilities, control noise levels during learning activities, and ensure clean, comfortable working spaces. Additionally, school leaders must review administrative task allocations to match teacher capacities and competencies proportionally. Implementing these structural improvements will optimize teacher productivity and sustain high-quality learning outcomes for students.
