Firemanlogi E-Learning Platform Improves Firefighter Cadets’ Learning Outcomes

Ilustration By AI

FORMOSA NEWS - Palembang - The Firemanlogi website-based e-learning platform improved learning outcomes among firefighter cadets in a limited trial at Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang. The platform was developed by Ayu Hoiru Nisa, Rezky Utama Putra, Yeti Komalasari, Anton Abdullah, and Muhammad Kahfi Almuktadir, with researchers affiliated with Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang, UPBU Kelas III Mentawai, and UPBU Kelas III Letung Anambas. The article was published in September 2026 in the Formosa Journal of Science and Technology. The findings matter because firefighter cadets in aviation settings need accessible training resources that can support both theoretical learning and professional competency.

Digital Learning for Aviation Firefighting Training

Firefighting and rescue personnel at airports require specialized knowledge and skills because their work is directly connected to aviation safety. Training for aviation firefighting therefore needs learning materials that are not only accurate but also accessible and engaging for cadets.

The authors noted that conventional learning modules can be less attractive to younger learners who are increasingly familiar with digital technology. Website-based e-learning offers an alternative by allowing learning materials to be accessed through computers and smartphones beyond conventional classroom sessions.

Firemanlogi was developed in response to this need. Rather than functioning only as a digital textbook, the platform combines learning materials with several supporting features, including schedules, assessments, regulations, documents, question-and-answer functions, and artificial intelligence (AI)-supported assistance.

The platform also provides information related to aviation firefighting and rescue, including regulations and firefighting equipment. Its AI feature is designed to answer questions related to PKP-PK within the regulatory framework referenced by the authors, including PR 30 of 2022.

How Firemanlogi Was Tested

The researchers used a research-and-development approach based on the 4D model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The platform was developed using PHP, CSS, HTML, MySQL, and JavaScript, with Visual Studio Code and web hosting used in the development process.

A limited trial involved 46 firefighter cadets from the PPKP 03A and 03B groups at Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang. The researchers measured learning performance using pre-tests and post-tests delivered through Google Forms. The results were then compared to determine whether learning scores changed after the use of Firemanlogi.

The results showed a measurable increase in average scores:

  • Pre-test average: 87.00
  • Post-test average: 91.86
  • Average increase: 4.86 points
  • Statistical test: p = 0.000

The statistical analysis reported a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results, with the probability value below the 0.05 threshold used by the researchers.

Firemanlogi Shows Potential as a Complementary Learning Platform

The improvement in scores suggests that Firemanlogi can support firefighter cadets' learning when used alongside existing instruction. The researchers emphasized that the platform brings learning materials, assessments, regulations, and digital assistance together in one website.

For aviation education, this integration can make learning resources more flexible. Cadets can access relevant materials without being restricted to a conventional classroom setting. The platform may also provide lecturers with an additional medium for delivering learning content and assessments.

Yeti Komalasari and colleagues at Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang describe Firemanlogi as a potential complementary digital learning platform for firemanship education. Their findings indicate that the system can provide an interactive and flexible learning environment while supporting the educational needs of cadets and aviation firefighting personnel.

The practical value of the platform extends beyond cadet learning. If further developed, a digital system of this type could support continuing education for personnel involved in airport firefighting and rescue operations. The authors also envision broader access for airport personnel and additional digital functions.

Findings Require Further Testing

The researchers also identify important limitations. The trial involved only 46 cadets and did not include a control or comparison group. As a result, the increase in test scores cannot be attributed exclusively to Firemanlogi. Classroom instruction, previous knowledge, lecturer guidance, and familiarity with the tests may also have contributed to the improvement.

The current platform also does not yet include a complete attendance-management system, learner activity monitoring, integrated evaluation, or comprehensive competency tracking. These limitations provide directions for future development.

The authors recommend testing Firemanlogi with larger groups and comparison groups and conducting more comprehensive evaluations. Future versions could include a mobile application, attendance management, learning-progress monitoring, online assessment, competency tracking, certification, analytics, and more advanced AI functions.
