Padlet has emerged as an
innovative digital solution for transforming science education, supporting
dynamic formative assessments and deep learning reflection for both students
and teachers. These findings were presented by Hastuti Agussalim and Munawwarah
from Universitas Negeri Makassar in their study published in the Journal of
Educational Analytics (JEDA) in May 2026. This research is significant for
providing empirical evidence on the potential of technology to address barriers
in science education evaluation processes.
Background and
Methodology
In the digital era, science
learning requires interactive and collaborative methods. Padlet, as a Web
2.0-based collaborative digital board, offers the flexibility to share
multimedia content in real-time. However, systematic studies regarding the
specific role of this platform in formative assessment and learning reflection
within science education remain scarce.
The researchers conducted a
Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA 2020 protocol, analyzing 15
selected articles published between 2016 and 2026 from five major academic
databases (Scopus, Google Scholar, ERIC, IEEE Xplore, and Sinta).
Key Research Findings
The study mapped the
roles of Padlet into several key dimensions:

Formative Assessment: Padlet functions as a platform for peer assessment, a tool for
monitoring understanding of science concepts, a medium for project-based
assessment, and a platform for assessing 21st-century skills.

Learning Reflection: Padlet facilitates reflection on teachers' teaching practices,
serves as a reflection platform for students' learning experiences, acts as a
medium for metacognitive reflection, and provides a space for collaborative
reflection.

Supporting & Inhibiting
Factors: Ease of use, flexibility,
real-time collaboration, multimedia support, and active student participation
are the primary supporting factors. Conversely, limited digital infrastructure,
dependency on a stable internet connection, and the need for initial training
remain significant challenges to its implementation.
Implications and
Impact
The results of this research
confirm that Padlet is not merely a supporting tool, but a strategic instrument
that significantly enhances the quality of feedback and the understanding of
science concepts. For the educational community, these findings suggest that
science teachers can progressively integrate Padlet with institutional support,
particularly to facilitate collaboration and reflection that is more responsive
to student needs. The study also emphasizes the necessity for further policy
efforts to incorporate digital tools like Padlet into the national science
curriculum.
