Jambi—Implementation of Confirmatory Factor Analysis in Research on the Prosperity of the Al Muhajirin Mosque. This research was conducted by Effiyaldi from the University of Dinamika Bangsa and published in the East Asian Journal of Multidisciplinary Research (EAJMR) in 2026.

Research conducted by Effiyaldi revealed that leadership style, information transparency, level of religiosity of worshippers, and economic conditions play a significant role in shaping the prosperity of mosques.

Mosque as a center of worship and empowerment

In the context of Indonesian society, mosques are not just places of congregational prayer. It also functions as a center for education, social activities, and economic empowerment of the people. However, many previous studies still assessed the prosperity of mosques normatively without testing the strength of the measurement instruments.

Effiyaldi emphasized that the concept of "prospering the mosque" needs to be defined in a measured manner. With CFA, each construct is tested to see if it really represents its theoretical concept. This approach is important so that mosque management can be data-based, not just assumptions.

Survey of 156 pilgrims

This study involved 156 respondents who were worshippers of the Al Muhajirin Mosque in Jambi City. Data was collected through a Google Form-based Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Lisrel software.

The variables tested include:

  1. Leadership Style
  2. Information Transparency
  3. Level of Religiosity
  4. Economic Needs
  5. Prosperity of the Mosque

The results showed that all indicators had a loading factor value above 0.50, the minimum limit in the CFA analysis. This means that each indicator is statistically capable of explaining the construct being measured.

The study's five key findings

The study noted at least five key findings:

  1. Participatory leadership strengthens the prosperity of the mosque.
The leadership style indicator meets the Goodness of Fit standard, showing that the leadership of priests and administrators has a real role in increasing congregational participation.
  2. Information transparency increases the trust of pilgrims.
The disclosure of financial statements, access to program information, and management accountability have proven to be measurable and significant factors.
  3. Religiosity is the most powerful factor.
The religiosity variable showed a very high reliability value, with Construct Reliability reaching 0.986 and AVE 0.901. This means that more than 90 percent of the variation of the indicator can be explained by the religiosity construct.
  4. Economic conditions affect participation.
The reliability value of the economic needs variable reached 0.977. These findings show that the economic stability of worshippers contributes to their ability to support mosque activities.
  5. The prosperity of the mosque is empirically defined.
The mosque prosperity variable has a reliability value of 0.988 and an AVE of 0.905, indicating that this concept can be measured consistently and stably.

Leadership and transparency are the foundation

The results showed that mosques with inclusive leadership and open communication tended to have higher participation rates. Transparency in fund management also strengthens the trust of pilgrims.

On the contrary, less open management has the potential to reduce community involvement. In the context of religious organizations, transparency is important social capital to build accountability.

The role of economics in the prosperity of mosques

This research also emphasizes the relationship between the economic condition of worshippers and the sustainability of mosque activities. When the economic needs of the community are met, participation in social programs, zakat, infaq, and alms increases.

These findings are in line with the latest research trend that sees mosques as centers for economic empowerment, including MSME training, sharia cooperatives, and productive zakat management.

Implications for mosque management

The results of this study give a clear message to mosque administrators and policymakers:

  1. Mosque management needs to be based on validated data and instruments.
  2. Participatory leadership should be a priority.
  3. Financial transparency must be strengthened.
  4. The pilgrims' economic empowerment program needs to be developed in a structured manner.
  5. The religiosity of pilgrims can be the main social capital in building solidarity.

Effiyaldi from the University of Dinamika Bangsa emphasized that construct validation through CFA provides a strong scientific foundation before further cause-and-effect relationship analysis is carried out. With valid instruments, mosque policies can be designed more precisely and measurably.
