pressures triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic have compelled both industry
incumbents and startups to embrace digital models.
How the Systematic Literature
Review Was Conducted
The research team executed a
systematic literature review following PRISMA 2020 international standards. The
team searched six major academic databases—Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed,
ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Emerald Insight—focusing on peer-reviewed
studies published in English between 2015 and 2025.
Out of 3,847 initial database
records, the authors evaluated 243 full-text papers and retained 62
high-quality studies meeting strict methodological standards using the Mixed
Methods Appraisal Tool. A hybrid deductive-inductive thematic approach was used

establishing clear standards for AI-derived drug approval and standardizing
cross-border digital health standards provides far higher leverage for
ecosystem growth than direct financial subsidies.
