A community service team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto led by Selamet Eko Budi Santoso, alongside a student community service (KKN) team, conducted digital mapping of landslide-prone areas in Bantar Village, Wanayasa District, Banjarnegara Regency, from July to August 2026. This initiative is crucial to support the strengthening of the Disaster-Resilient Village (Destana) program and help the village government and community systematically recognize hazard-prone areas to enhance disaster preparedness.

Bantar Village features a hilly topography with a history of recurring landslides in 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and 2026 that occasionally severed main road access and impacted residents. Prior to this activity, information regarding hazard-prone areas in the village was only available in the form of manual hand-drawn maps, which were less effective for long-term mitigation.

The program was implemented through coordination with the Banjarnegara Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the drafting of the Destana framework, field surveys, and interviews with village officials. The team collected supporting spatial data and DEMNAS elevation data, then processed them using ArcGIS and QGIS software.

  • Six landslide threat locations were identified in Bantar Village, consisting of three points with moderate risk and three points with high risk.
  • The distribution of these threat points covers three hamlets: Bantar Hamlet, Pramen Hamlet, and Sikenong Hamlet.
  • Field surveys revealed that the main inter-hamlet connecting road was completely severed in the Pramen Hamlet area and impacted parts of residents' plantation lands.
  • The digital map, printed in the form of a banner, also presents evacuation assembly point information at the special request of the Bantar Village Government.

Transforming data from manual maps into spatial digital maps makes it easier for village officials and residents to understand critical points requiring special attention. The utilization of Geographic Information Systems serves as a strategic foundation in strengthening disaster mitigation capacity and realizing a more resilient community at the local level.
